The Springfield College trailer parks were known as the "Kampus Kolony." At its height, Kampus Kolony provided housing for about 100 people from around 31 Springfield College student families. The Kolony had its own government, fire department, bottled gas distribution agency, and a community hall. Two trailer camps were built at the end of World War II for the Springfield College campus. One was located on the East campus and was taken down around 1951. The second location was at the southern end of Springfield's Alumni Hall along the shores of Lake Massasoit. This one was finally taken down in 1959 to make room for more buildings at Springfield College.
