  <mods:abstract>This is a photograph of the 1941 Varsity Soccer Team of Springfield College, at the time called the International YMCA College. There are in three rows with the first row sitting, the second row kneeling, and the third row standing. They are in front of a soccer goal that has no net. A listing of the players in the photograph has been attached to the bottom of the photograph, covering up the feet of the first row. In the picture (from left to right are, first row: Burr Keegan (manager), Burt Sheehan, Ace Rogers, Dick Havel, Nils Carlson, Busher Cooper, Pete Jarina, Whig Schmid, Al Potter, and George Franklin; second row: John Hubbard (asst. manager), Pere Keller, Ed Keyes, Russ Peterson, Stan Christman, Jim Bauer, Jack Marvin, Karel Horak, Walt Allen, Nick Sabetto, Herb Powley, and Ken McEwen; third row: Dave Terry (asst. manager), Silas Moraes, Mart Bloom, Walt Smith, Dan Breen, Jim Midgeley, Woody Thomison, Johnny Owens, Coach John D. Brock, Robert Mortenson (Asst. Coach), Bart Olson, Don Richardson, Don Sundholm, Ed Belknap, Lyle Gray, Luke Hartman, Frank Deyoe and Harry Lee (Freshman Coach). This team went 6-0-2 and won the New England Intercollegiate soccer crown. It also gained the distinction of having one of being one of the three best collegiate soccer clubs in the country.</mods:abstract>
