  <mods:abstract>letter from Thomas Duncan Patton to Laurence L. Doggett, dated April 13, 1916. In the letter, Patton tells Doggett what he is doing overseas in support of the war. This letter is in response to Doggett's letter, which was sent on January 20, 1916. According to the letter head, Patton was working in the Headquarters National Council YMCA of Canada in Toronto as the Military Field Service Secretary. Thomas D. Patton graduated in 1892. Patton was a good friend of Dr James Naismith and was asked to be a captain in basketball. After graduation, he became the secretary of Y.M.C.A's in many different counters such as China, Japan, or India. In 1915 he began working as an army work secretary supervisor in Winnipeg. He retired from secretarial work in 1926, but remained active in the community until his death in 1944.</mods:abstract>
