During the 2002 season, the Springfield College football team was coached by Mike DeLong. The team won the Freedom Football Conference Championship, ranked number 20 in the final American Football Coaches Association national poll in Division III, and eleven members of this year's squad were named to the Freedom Football Conference All-Conference first and second teams.
