<mods:abstract>This Springfield College recruitment booklet was published sometime during the early 1930s. At this time, Springfield College’s corporate title was still the International Young Men’s Christian Association College. The pamphlet, which has an alternate title of “Being the Story of a Young Man who elects to go to Springfield College,” includes images of campus buildings, faculty, and students engaged in athletic and cultural activities. The first page includes the lyrics to “A Song for Springfield” by Frederick S. Hyde and a notice that prospective students can secure more information by mailing Springfield College. Unlike “A Cinema of Springfield College,” the next three pages are primarily text describing what Springfield College can offer to its students. The remaining pages are nearly identical to “A Cinema of Springfield College,” and it should be noted that it is unclear which pamphlet was published first. While a few of the pictures and captions have changed, they tell essentially the same story of a student (called “Mr. Freshman”) and his experience at Springfield College. Many of the images were turned into lantern slides and are part of the Story of the Cinema of Springfield College Lantern Slide Series.</mods:abstract>
