This photograph depicts members of the McKinley Literary Society. It is thought to have been taken in 1902-1903 academic year, being the second year of the society since it was first founded on 1901-1902. The McKliney Literary Society was one of several literary groups at the International YMCA Training School, now Springfield College, during the early 20th centuries that were geared to promoting and teaching public speaking skills to the students. This picture depicts members of the club sitting to have the portrait taken. A handwritten caption on the back of the photograph reads "The property of the McKinley Literary Society 1902-1903".
