Description:
This photograph depicts the Summer Session of the Physical Department of the International YMCA Training School, now Springfield College. The picture is mounted on a board with a descriptive text paper pasted on the back. Here it says “Notice students are wearing the new triangle symbol created by Luther Gulick”, which was officially adopted by the College in 1891, “with the addition of the addition of the words Mind, Body and Spirit and reference to Ephesians 4:13. Students had been using Gulick’s symbol for more than two years prior to the acceptance by the Trustees. According to Doggett, in ‘Man and a School’ (pp. 53-54). Pictured:[top row, L-R] J. M.
