  <mods:abstract>This is a letter of recommendation sent to the International YMCA College (now called Springfield College) for Colin Harley Falconer. The letter was sent on August 2, 1932 from James McConnell, the camp director at the Halifax Young Men’s Christian Association in Canada. In the letter, McConnell writes: “His special work, that of Nature Study counsellor, was exceptionally well done. The boys responded to his leadership remarkably.” Falconer was born on August 21, 1915 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. His father was a professor of New Testament literature in Halifax, Canada. Early in 1932, he worked as a volunteer counsellor at the Big Cove YMCA Camp (Halifax, Canada). Falconer applied to Springfield College on August 13, 1932 and started in the fall of 1933, but left at the end of the academic year.</mods:abstract>
