This image shows faculty members of the International YMCA College, now known as Springfield College, standing in a row. They are wearing their academic regalia and likely attending commencement exercises at the Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church on Sumner Avenue in Springfield, Massachusetts. Standing in the center (fifth from the left) is Dr. Laurence Doggett and his wife Olive Doggett. According to a 1937 guide to Massachusetts, the Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church formed part of a connecting group of buildings of Gothic architecture designed by Allen and Collins, including a community house with a gymnasium, swimming pool, playrooms, auditorium with well-equipped stage, and other facilities. It is surmounted by a tower containing a carillon of sixty-one bells. The church contains a series of twenty-four stained-glass windows representing historic personages with the theme 'The Light of Christ in the Life of Civilization.”
