<mods:abstract>A poster advertising the Springfield College Gymnastics Exhibition Team, which performed at 8 p.m. on January 30, 1943 at the Whitin Memorial Gym. The gym was likely part of the Whitin Community Center in Whitinsville, Massachusetts, but we don't know this for certain. Admission was seventy-five cents for adults and fifty cents for association members. Following the show was a dance with music provided by Johnny Evans’ Orchestra. The poster includes a quote from LIFE Magazine describing the performance as “Beauty + Rhythm + Thrills.” This poster design was frequently reused to advertise the team's different shows. Under the leadership of Professor Leslie J. Judd, the purpose of the Springfield College Exhibition team was to promote and maintain an interest in gymnastics, the dance, and the artistic phases of physical education in schools, colleges, YMCAs, and recreational centers. The Exhibition Team has appeared before thousands of spectators in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In 1941, the team appeared before thirty-five-thousand spectators in twenty-five cities. Scale is not 1:1 because item was digitized using a Canon EOS Rebel T1i. Original size is listed in the extent field;</mods:abstract>
