George O. Draper, Springfield College’s alumni secretary, wrote this letter to James A. Naismith on May 25, 1936. Draper writes that he is disappointed to hear that Naismith cannot attend the reunion, as Alonzo Stagg, William Ball, and many other of the original Springfield College football team will be in attendance. He adds that he knows one faculty member who Naismith could rent a home from for the summer for $35 ($588 in 2013) a week, but that it may be too expensive.
