George O. Draper, Springfield College’s alumni secretary, wrote this letter to James A. Naismith on April 29, 1935. Draper writes that he sent letters to the Pittsburgh and Lancaster YMCAs to ask if Naismith could lecture there while traveling to Springfield College from Lawrence, Kansas. Draper then describes the Alumni Officers Dinner, the other speakers’ topics, and the time limit. He suggests that Naismith speak about basketball.
