SC Women's Synchronized Swimming at McCurdy Natatorium
Description:
This is a photograph of the Springfield College synchronized swimming team competing in front of a packed crowd at Judd Pool. Judd Gymnasium, built in 1894 and one of the oldest buildings on campus, served as the site of the college's physical education classes and once housed the swimming pool. The synchronized swimming team existed during the 1950s, where they performed elaborate synchronized routines accompanied by music. The sport requires strength, endurance, flexibility, grace, artistry, and precise timing, as well as exceptional breath control.
