A photograph of two Springfield College students gazing out the window of one of the lounges of the almost complete men's dormitory, Massasoit Hall. Featured in the image are two of the counselors for the dorm, E. Pierce Walsh (left) and Thomas Waddell (right). A workmen walks in front. For biographical information on Tom Waddell, see: https://springfield.as.atlas-sys.com/agents/people/155. Massasoit Hall originally functioned as an all-male dormitory, but in 1969 it was the first dormitory to change from a single sex hall to a co-educational dormitory. Separate floors were designated for men and women. Today Massasoit Hall houses freshmen students retaining its new and modern spirit with the many new first years residing in it each fall.
