<mods:abstract>The video is an interview of Seth Arsenian. Arsenian describes his purpose for coming to Springfield College and talks about his life before he came to the college. Arsenian talks about his experiences in Armenia and some of the struggles he faced there, which is where he was born. Arsenian was hired by Springfield College to be a psychology professor, and he explains how he became interested in psychology and how it works. He also explains some of the changes that have occurred in differing departments since he became a professor. Dr. Seth Arsenian was born in 1902 in Vaspurakan, the capital of the kingdom of Urartu in Armenia. He became an American citizen in 1940, after which Springfield College hired him as a psychology professor. During World War II, he took a leave of absence from to work in Washington, D.C., first with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and then with the Office of War Information, where he was in charge of propaganda for the Middle East. When he returned to Springfield College, he was hired as acting dean, director of admissions, and eventually the director of the graduate program. He retired in 1969 and moved to San Diego. This VHS tape was digitized on-campus using media services. No mov file was created, but only an mp4 file.; Original file has been cut. The total length of the video is two hours and 39 seconds long. Originally the file was over 2 hours long. This, though, included an hour of static as the technicians just scanned the entire tape and did not discard the part of the tape that had no film on it. This extra was discarded for size and usability.;</mods:abstract>
