Letter from Eugene Libby to Jacob T. Bowne (July 26, 1890)
Description:
This is a letter written by Springfield College (then YMCA Training School) alumnus Eugene Libby to SC faculty member Jacob T. Bowne (July 26, 1890). In the letter, Libby described his visit to the school and stated that he still could not make a decision if he was going to enroll. Eugene S. Libby is a member of Class 1892 of Springfield College (then known as International YMCA Training School). He was a member of the first men to ever play the game of basketball in 1891. Libby was born April 28, 1864 in Gardiner, Maine. After graduation, he opened his real estate business in Redlands, California which he operated until his death on September 1, 1948. He was a member of the Redlands Y.M.C.A. Board of Directors, and Chairman of the Membership Committee.
