<mods:abstract>At the end of the Civil War, Jefferson Davis tried to move his capitol and prolong war. The print shows several bemused and threadbare pedestrians looking on as Davis, in full regalia, orders an aggrieved mover to place the pile of boxes strapped to his back on a cart labeled "C.S.A." (Confederate States of America). The cart is pulled by two gaunt dogs, and to its right a crate labeled "C.S.A. Treasury" is being urinated on by another mutt. The boxes, labeled "Texas," "Georgia," Tennessee," etc., topple from the mover's back. Davis was finally captured on 10 May.</mods:abstract>
