<mods:abstract>This is a digital copy of a recording made by Dr. Peter V. Karpovich answering questions about his life and giving his philosophies and thoughts on Physical Education and fitness. The digital copy is made from a 2 sided magnetic reel to reel tape and is approximately 27 minutes in duration. The original reel is undated, but from comments made on the recording it is believed to have been recorded in 1966 or 1967. The first side is divided into two parts. The first part he calls "My Short Biography" and lasts approximately 6 minutes. In this part, he speaks about his early life from his birth in Luga, Russia and the influence of his older brother on his decision to go into research and medical school though his time at the Military Medical Academy in Petrograd (Saint Petersburg) to his coming to American through Riga, Latvia, and his career as a researcher and physical educator at Springfield College. The second part is the beginning of answers to what sound like prepared questions on Physical Education and his philosophy on fitness. For more information on Peter V. Karpovich, see: https://springfield.as.atlas-sys.com/agents/people/571. This is copy made of a 2 sided magnetic reel to reel audio tape; The beginning of Side 1 is identical to “My Short Biography”; This is the original recording and “My Short Biography” is the copy made by the archives to allow for easier access to information; The ending portion of Side 2 is identical to “Karpovich on Current Trends of Physical Education”;</mods:abstract>
