A 12-time NCAA Division III All-America honoree, Burch was a dominant swimmer at Springfield College who helped the Pride win its only New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Championship in 2005. To date, Burch still holds several program-record times, including the 50 free (20.26), the 100 free (45.08), the 100 back (51.28), and the 200 free relay (1:22.63). After graduation, Burch went on to be a member of the Bermuda Olympic Team in 2008 and 2012, racing the 50 and 100 free in the Beijing Olympics and the 50 free in the London Olympics. Burch has represented Bermuda on the worldwide stage numerous times, including in the World Championships, the Commonwealth Games, and the Pan Am Games. Burch was ranked in the top 20 in the world for the 50 freestyle in 2015 before an injury derailed his pursuit of competing in the 2016 Olympics.
