  <mods:abstract>This photograph shows Dr. C. Lynn Vendien in the middle of the ocean. In the photograph, Vendien is standing against a handrail, probably of a ship, and smiling at the camera. The back of the photograph has a stamp that says "This is a KODACOLOR PRINT made by Kodak," below which says "NOVEMBER 1958 - RD," suggesting the photograph was printed in 1958. Dr. C. Lynn Vendien was a professor of physical education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a leader in international and comparative physical education.</mods:abstract>
