Springfield College Women's Gymnastic team meet video
Description:
This is a video of a Springfield College Women's Gymnastics team meet. The exact date or who Springfield College is in the meet with is not known. It was part of three Concord CV-2000 video reels that were kept together. Only one was marked saying "Reel A 1/25/69 Women's Gymnastics Penn State". This video was not in this case, but the video reel has "Reel A" written on it. The reel inside the marked case has no markings on it at all. It is not known whether the reels were mixed up. The other videos in this series are rg162-03-e-01-13-001 & 003. The video is around 40 minutes long. The video is in very tough shape, beginning with snow and there are portions of the tape that are fussy or the video drops out. The tape does have sound, though it too drops out or is hard to make out. The video begins with floor routines, moves to gymnasts performing on on the balance beam, and finishes with gymnasts on the high bars. During the High bars the head coach of the Springfield College team, Dr. Mimi Murray, can be seen. The tape appears to have been used multiple times as the tape finishes with a taping of the television presentation of the parade that occurred of President Nixon's January 20th, 1969 Inauguration. This starts at the 37th minute of the tape. Nixon is shown clapping. Technicitan who digitized the video wrote, "Tape opens with snow. High degree of tearing at the bottom of the picture. Minor dropouts. Tape appears to have been used mulitple times."
