  <mods:abstract>A postcard of the Jerusalem YMCA. The photograph on the front shows the whole complex from across the main road: the center with its tower on the north side that arises to a majestic 152 feet; the auditorium connected to the main building by a cloistered passage with a vaulted roof and known as the golden hall of friendship; and the Gymnasium or physical unit with various gymnasia, swimming pool and outside playing fields and courts. There are white, pufy clouds above. The vision of Dr. Archibald Clinton Harte (1865-1946) who worked tirelessly planning every detail and raising funds, the Jerusalem International YMCA was dedicated in 1933 with the words “Here is a spot whose atmosphere is peace, where political and religious jealousies can be forgotten and international unity be fostered and developed.” Designed by noted American architect Arthur Loomis Harmon of Shreve, Lamb and Harmon.
