The photograph shows Hassan Robinson, a basketball player for Springfield College, in the process of shooting a layup as two defenders from the opposing team attempt to stop him. Both members of the opposing team, who wear shirts labeled CCCP, jump in the air reaching their hands upward in an attempt to cover or block Robinson's shot. CCCP is generally the initials used by the Russians for their team and no other information for a different team with these initials could be found, so it is unclear exactly who the opponents that Robinson is facing against are. Robinson holds the basketball in his left hand away from the defenders and looks up towards the hoop as the ball is beginning to be released from his hands. Hassan Robinson was a stellar athlete who attended Springfield College and graduated in 1995. He played both baseball and basketball during his time at Springfield College, and he was selected by Astros and played summer Class A ball before his senior year. He was elected to the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. Robison’s list of athletic achievements are long and impressive: a NCAA Division II baseball record for hitting in 38 consecutive games, the Springfield College record for career home runs in a season, the Springfield College record for most total bases in a season, and defensive player of the year, freshman of the year, player of the year, and numerous all-star selections in basketball, among others. Despite all the accolades, his proudest moment remains fulfilling his commitment to come back and complete his senior year. Robinson graduated with a degree in history and secondary education and he began working in education after the end of his baseball career.
