They are wearing Springfield College baseball hats and jackets and holding bats. Archie Allen coached baseball at Springfield College from 1948 to 1978. He is one of the best-known coaches in the college's history and was selected to the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame’s first class in 1972. Archie was the head coach for three of the four times that the school’s baseball team reached the College World Series. He coached the US Pan American team, was president of the College Baseball Coaches Association, and was commissioner of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
