This shows Springfield College alum at the US Navy Training School in Norfolk Virginia (December 1942). They are standing on steps in front of a brick building. According to the caption under the photograph used in the December 1942 Springfield College Bulletin, the photograph shows Springfield College graduates of Squad No. 48, U.S.N.T.S. Out of the 48 members in the platoon, seven were Springfield College graduates. They are Front Center, A. S. Pugh, squad commander; First row-Robert Burcaw '36, William McGowan '38, Christian Kopf '37; Everett Chisholm '33. Back row-Ivan Wood '37, Kenneth Muehleck '32 and Donald Wheeler '37. According to the writing on the back of the photograph this photo may have been sent to Springfield College by Donald Wheeler as he writes, "We wish to have Miss Carr keep this picture" and "It is quite possible that this might be used for the Bulletin - It sounds like a selling point to us".
