His major was physical education and he played volleyball as a setter when he studied at Springfield College. In his senior year he earned a place on the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Coaches Association Division III First Team. On the back of the photograph there is a label says "Tucker Short SC Volleyball '03". The photograph is dated based on this '03 which probably stands means the 2003 season;
