This framed mirror and drawing may have been presented as part of the Distinguished Alumnus/a Award for Springfield College that he received in 1994. David M. Auxter attended Springfield College and graduated with his BS '51 and G '56. Later, he attended Boston University for his Educational Doctorate. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Auxter was a member of the football team as Springfield college during the 1965 undefeated/untied football season. Auxter was an assistant professor of physical education and spent most of his career teaching Adapted Physical Education at Slippery Rock University. He spent his retirement in Washington, continuing his lifelong work as an advocate for people with disabilities and supported the movement of the IDEA Act as well as the ADA. Auxter received a distinguished Alumnus/a Award in 1994 which is what this picture may be from. David Auxter passed away Sept. 4, 2018.
