<mods:abstract>This is drawing believed to be done by Ross Reverdy Osgoode of the Saint Pol Gate of the City of Arras during World War I. The drawing shows the arch and buildings damaged by bombing. There are a team of horses pulling a canon on the road, and there is car and two soldiers in front of a building with a triangle on a sign on the building. According to the note with the painting, this was a customs building used as the Advanced Headquarters for the Canadian YMCA. The exact date of the drawing is not known. According to the note that was with the painting, it is listed as April 17, 1918, but the Battle of Arras took place in the Spring of 1917. The date comes from a transcription of the original note, but it is not said when that transcription was made and the original letter (rg104-03-03-20-002) has fallen apart and cannot be fully read to confirm.</mods:abstract>
