A photograph of Dr. James Naismith (center) with Springfield College staff and basketball players during a visit to campus thought to have taken place in March of 1939, shortly before his death. There six men, three on either side of Naismith. They are standing on the basketball court in West Gymnasium in Judd Gymnasia, under a basketball hoop. Three of the men are Springfield College Basketball players. They are wearing Springfield warming jackets and carrying basketballs. The man on the far right is Edward Hickox, the basketball coach of Springfield College at the time. The rest of the men are not identified.
