Item Information
- Title:
- Biographies and Prophecy Class of 1891
- Description:
-
This is a yearbook or class book for the Class of 1891 at the International YMCA Training School, now known as Springfield College. It is called "Biographies and Prophecy Class of 1891." It consists of autobiographies written in the forms of letters by the graduating members of the Class of 1891 and a section called " Prophecy - Class of 1891." The prophecy speaks of each class member and may have been written after the class graduated as there is a hand-written note at the top of the section that says Sept. 9, 1894. The class of 1891 is notable in that Dr. James Naismith, the creator of Basketball, and Amos Alonzo Stagg, famous Collegiate Football coach, were graduates that year. On the cover it says "Not Published" It is not sure what this means, but it could mean that this is the only copy of this complete document. There is another copy of these letters in the Class of 1891 Papers that has not been digitized. Physical Object; Text;. Due to the writing of the name and the class date on the backs of the bios/letters, both the front and the backs of the bios/letters were scanned. For the prophecy of the Class of 1891, only the fronts or pages with text were scanned.
