Ramses Kelly congratulations for 1000 career points (January 25, 1990)

This is a newspaper clipping from the January 25, 1990 issue of the Springfield Student celebrating Ramses T. Kelly, a Springfield College Basketball player, for his 1,000th career point. The clipping includes a photo of him dribbling the ball while an opponent guards him. One of the finest players to ever wear a Springfield College basketball jersey, Ramses T. Kelly was a two-year captain of the men's basketball program. Over his four-year collegiate career, Kelly finished ranked in the top five in six different categories of the program's all-time records. Kelly is third in career points (1,782), second in assists (508), third in rebounds (821), fifth in field goals made (620), while also ranking first in free throws made (532) and attempted (725). Recognized for his efforts, Kelly was named the Springfield College Male Team Athlete of the Year on three separate occasions (1988, 1989, 1991) and earned Northeast-10 All Freshman, NE-10 All-Star, and NE-10 All-Academic team accolades throughout his career. Additionally, Kelly was chosen to the All-NABC Division II All-District Team following standout senior season in 1991. After Springfield, Kelly was able to continue his playing career professionally in Germany and Puerto Rico. Once Kelly's professional basketball career ended, he became an educator and coach, working as a teacher in Puerto Rico and New York. Since 2002, Kelly has served the Florida community, working as a English language arts teacher and administrative dean.
