This document is a copy of two articles by James Naismith published in the Official Basket Ball Rules as adopted by the Young Men's Christian Association Athletic League of North America that was edited by Luther Gulick and published by the American Sports Publishing Company in 1896. The two articles are "The Referee" and "The Umpire". This document is six pages long and represents cover and pages 11 - 16. This document was held at the Library of the International YMCA Training School in Springfield, MA, now Springfield College. This document was adopted by the Young Men's Christian Association Athletic League of North America and it is the Spalding's Official Basket Ball Guide. The rules go in detail about the officials and players such as the referee, the umpire, and the centre (just part of this article written by W. E. Allen is shown).
