Description:
This is a photograph of Daryl Arroyo, the head coach of the Springfield College Wrestling Team, with other coaches and wrestlers on the team. Arroyo is seated in the middle, wearing a suit and tie. He is laughing at something happening in what could be a Wrestling meet. There are young men, presumably wrestlers, standing behind him, and seated around him. Arroyo attended and wrestled for Springfield College, and was a Division II All-American his senior year. He graduated from Springfield with a Bachelor of Science in Health Fitness in 1984. He then served as an assistant wrestling coach at California State University, Fullerton for three years where he received his Master's Degree in Physical Education. Later, Arroyo earned his PhD degree in Sport Psychology at the University of Connecticut. At Springfield, he coached for 21 seasons, and ended his career with 301 wins, 160 losses and 6 ties, for a .651 winning percentage. He was named Coach of the Year in 1991, 1997, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2011. This photograph was supplied from various sources to the Athletic Department for use in the 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame inductions. Only digital files were supplied. These files were printed and a physical version was placed in the photo. No original print exists in the collection at the time that this file was uploaded into the digital collections.;
