  <mods:abstract>This letter is written by Springfield College (then known as International YMCA Training School) alumnus William Davis, dated May 14, 1909. The letter was probably sent to Springfield College faculty member Dr. Hanford M. Burr. In the letter, Davis introduced his work and contributions when at school and after graduation. The letter seemed to support Davis getting a B.H. degree, which was given to him later. William H. Davis is a member of Class 1892 of Springfield College (then known as International YMCA Training School). He was a member of the first men to ever play the game of basketball in 1891. After graduation, he worked as a general secretary and physical director at YMCA, Greenfield, Mass. and an assistant secretary at YMCA, Bridgeport, Conn. He also worked as a general secretary at various YMCA including Bedford Branch, Brooklyn, NY.; Bridgeport, Conn.; Portland, Me.; North Adams, Mass.; and Waterbury, Conn. He received a B.H. degree in 1909.</mods:abstract>
