  <mods:abstract>A letter from Carl Killiam to Robert L. Cheney written on February 23, 1918. In the letter, Killam asks Cheney if he could write him letters of recommendation. Killam is applying for a commission in the aviation corps. Ralph L. Cheney served as the head of Springfield College’s Secretarial Department from 1907 to 1924. Before taking this position, he worked as a YMCA secretary in Albany and Niagara Falls, New York.</mods:abstract>
