A photograph of the west side of Springfield College's dormitory, Massasoit Hall. In this photo can be seen three floors and a sign suggesting construction taken place during this time with words, "Ley Construction Co.", "General Contractors", "Sub Contractors". It is not sure if this sign refers to the construction of this hall or Reed Hall. Due to its location, Massasoit Hall was originally named "South Hall" as there was no dedication given at the time of its completion in September of 1959. The building was later given its name in 1961 after the lake that it sits on. Although it originally functioned as an all-male dormitory, Massasoit Hall became the first dormitory to change to a co-ed dormitary in 1969. Today, freshman and first year students of Springfield College reside in the dormitory each year that holds the Emerging Leaders Program Learning Community.
