After leaving the Navy, he volunteered to help work on Moakley’s state house campaign in the 1950s. He joined Moakley’s staff and eventually served as the district director from 1973-1994. Kineavy also discusses some of the key issues in Moakley’s career, including: Boston’s busing crisis, El Salvador, and fire-safe cigarettes. He also reflects on Moakley’s relationships with other congressmen, including members of the Republican Party.
